FRIENDS OF PIONEERTOWNWorking to revitalize the community by honoring and promoting Pioneertown’s historic significance as a unique and unusual part of the American story.
Residents of 92268 are invited to join us on January 27, 5:30-7:00 pm, at the retired Pioneertown Fire Station to learn about the process of obtaining recognition as a Firewise Community and ways to help protect our homes from wildfire events. The Firewise Community Program provides a collaborative framework to help neighbors in a geographic area get organized, find direction, and take action to increase the ignition resistance of their homes and community and to reduce wildfire risks at the local level. The Pioneertown Area Firewise Community, led by local residents in collaboration with the nonprofit Friends of Pioneertown and the Pioneertown Emergency Preparedness Network (PEPN) , will host this town meeting. Representatives from Cal Fire, the San Bernardino County Fire Department, and the High Desert Emergency Action Alliance (HDEAA) will also be present. The Firewise Community program requires specific criteria that communities must follow to enhance home resistance to wildfire event. The ad hoc Pioneertown Firewise committee has already made significant progress in becoming an officially certified Firewise Community. With this upcoming meeting, we aim to move closer to achieving certification.
